The savory and sweet elements of this sausage stuffing casserole recipe create an unmistakably festive flavor and one seriously satisfying dish. And not only is it delicious, it’s super easy to put together.

Once you’ve given this Sausage Stuffing Casserole, your family will be asking for it year after year!

Core Ingredients

Sausage: You can use all kinds of sausages for this stuffing depending on your preference.

You can use breakfast sausage, sweet Italian sausage, or even other meats like chicken, turkey or beef.

You could also experiment with sausages made with herbs to add an extra layer of flavor. If you buy sausages in casings, don’t forget to remove them before you start to cook.

While they are perfectly safe to eat, you’ll end up with tough mouthfuls of it in your stuffing which will detract from the overall texture.

Herbs: Parsley is the main herb that’s used in this stuffing. This fragrant herb has always been a fantastic pairing with sausage as it has a bold flavor which gives fatty meat a boost.

Unusually for an herb, many cooks prefer working with dried herbs over fresh, though both will work fine in this recipe. However, it’s important to remember that dried parsley is not less potent than fresh.

A good rule of thumb when using dried herbs is to use one-third of the amount given for fresh herbs in the recipe. This will prevent the end flavor from being too overwhelming.

Cranberries: The cranberries in this dish not only give it a festive feel but also adds some sweetness that pairs beautifully with the savory meat and the earthy, herby parsley.

This Sausage Stuffing Casserole With Cranberries recipe calls for the dried variety, as fresh or canned cranberries contain too much moisture and will make the stuffing soggy.

How To Fix Sausage Bread Cubes For Stuffing That’s Getting Too Brown

On Thanksgiving it can be a challenge to time all of your side dishes just right. If your Bread Cubes For Stuffing With Sausage and Cranberries is getting too brown on the top, simply cover it with aluminum foil until you are ready to take it out.

This will keep it heated all the way through but will stop the top from burning.

Can I Cook My Sausage Stuffing In The Turkey?

Air Fryer Bread Cubes For Stuffing Recipe (4)

While you can technically cook stuffing inside your turkey there are some serious downsides to consider.

It will slow down your cooking time, but more importantly it can pose a health risk if not done correctly.

To be on the safe side, I’d highly recommend cooking your stuffing separately. That way, you’ll end up with both a delicious bird and an irresistibly savory side.
